The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:00 pm.

  • None

The Minutes of the meeting of May 14, 2019 were circulated for the Committee's information.  The minutes have been approved at a prior Council meeting.

The cost comparison information will be forthcoming.

The Manager of Environmental Services will work with the Bridge Authority to determine if anything will be done with this fence issue.

A discussion took place regarding responsibility for freezing water services in the Village. In many municipalities the home owner is responsible for repairs if the service freezes at the road.

The possibility of a debenture program was discussed for people who are unable to afford the cost of installing a replacement service from the curb stop. This issue will be discussed further when the St. Clair Street reconstruction project takes place.

  • Recommendation 1

    THAT the Environmental Services Department proceed with the implementation of a policy that home owners will be responsible for the cost of running water to stop water services from freezing, and THAT the Village will not tell people when they need to turn the water off and on in order to avoid these frozen services.

THE Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) inspections for the Waste Water Treatment Plant were reviewed by the Committee.

Councillor Gordon questioned what additional mandatory information is required to be posted on the Health and Safety Bulletin Board and the Manager of Environmental Services will report back to the Committee at the July meeting.

    THAT the JHSC Inspection Sheets for the Waste Water Treatment Plant be received and filed.

Councillor Gordon questioned if the Village has a policy regarding overdue water accounts. The Treasurer will put overdue water accounts on the property owner's tax bill.

    THAT the Committee receive and file the Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Committee Monthly Report.

  • Recommendation 4

    THAT the External Audit for 2019 be received and filed, and THAT a copy of the reply to the external auditor be provided to the Committee at the next meeting of the Committee.
